The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
