Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enwrapped in thy robes, 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 [and,] verily, the hours of night impress the mind most strongly and speak with the clearest voice, 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 on the Day the earth and mountains shall shake and the mountains crumble into shifting sand dunes. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished. 18 Lo! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord. 19
