The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 And that I guide you to your Lord, so you should fear Him? 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
