The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the most unfortunate of them broke forth with 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
