Remember when you set forth in the morning from your house assigning the faithful positions for the battle, God heard everything and knew all. 121 When two parties of you almost fell away, and Allah was their Protecting Friend. In Allah let believers put their trust. 122 for, indeed, God did succour you at Badr, when you were utterly weak. Remain, then, conscious of God, so that you might have cause to be grateful. 123 [And remember] when you said to the believers, "Does it not suffice that your Lord helps you by sending down three thousand angels? 124 Yea; if you are patient and godfearing, and the foe come against you instantly, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand swooping angels.' 125 And Allah did not make it but as good news for you, and that your hearts might be at ease thereby, and victory is only from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise. 126 That He might cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or expose them to infamy, so that they retire frustrated. 127 No part of the matter is thine, whether He turns towards them again, or chastises them; for they are evildoers. 128 And whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is Allah's; He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He pleases; and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. 129
