A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And the shade of black smoke. 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 "And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 filling your bellies with it; 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you, why will you not believe! 57 So what is your opinion regarding the semen you discharge? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 from changing the nature of your existence and bringing you into being [anew] in a manner [as yet] unknown to you. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Consider the fire that you strike (and get by friction). 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Extol, then, the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's mighty name! 74
