The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
