The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
