The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
