The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
