(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 And Abraham who paid his debt: 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 and that it is He who created pairs, the male and the female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that upon Him rests the second growth, 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 And before them, the people of Nooh? Indeed they were more unjust and more rebellious than these! 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 and covered them with torment. 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 This is a warning among the warnings of yore. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 None beside Allah can disclose it. 58 Marvel ye then at this statement, 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 while you are thoughtless? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
