The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 And the second followeth it, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
