Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
