Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 one bearing good news and warning. Yet most of them turned away and are not wont to give heed. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say (Prophet Muhammad): 'I am only a human like you, to whom it is revealed that your God is One God. Therefore be straight with Him and ask Him to forgive you. Woe to the idolaters, 6 (To) those who do not give poor-rate and they are unbelievers in the hereafter. 7 Lo! as for those who believe and do good works, for them is a reward enduring. 8
