The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
