AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 And lo! it is upon a road still uneffaced. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
