۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 “And stop them – they are to be questioned.” 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet' 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 (Do you think) we would be paid back our due when we are dead and reduced to dust and bones?' 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
