(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 30 Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
