The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and abundant fruits, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
