The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
