The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
