He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
