The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
