The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and so am I: 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
