The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There shall be none to avert it; 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
