The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 He looked (at others); 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
