The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 who belied the Day of Recompense! 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 A book inscribed, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the disbelievers then be duly recompensed for their laughing at the believers? 36
