Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
