The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its heat and brightness, 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 But the Messenger of Allah [Salih (Saleh)] said to them: "Be cautious! Fear the evil end. That is the she-camel of Allah! (Do not harm it) and bar it not from having its drink!" 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 He did not fear the consequences. 15
