And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
