The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
