And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 And We delivered him and his people from the great affliction. 76 and We made his seed the survivors, 77 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations to come in later times: 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all beings!' 79 Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. 80 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was of the same faith: 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 Behold! he said to his father and to his people, "What is that which ye worship? 85 Is it a calumny, gods apart from God, that you desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds?" 87 He then shot a glance at the stars. 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then did he turn to their gods and said, "will ye not eat (of the offerings before you)?... 91 What is the matter with you, that you do not speak' 92 then he turned on them, striking them down with his right hand. 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said: Build for him a building and fling him in the red-hotfire. 97 And they devised a plot for him, but We made them the humble. 98 And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me. 99 My Lord! Bestow on me a son who will be of the righteous. 100 So We gave him the good news of a boy, possessing forbearance. 101 And when he reached the age of traveling with him, he said: 'My son, while I was sleeping I saw that I shall slaughter (sacrifice) you, tell me what is your opinion' He replied: 'Father, do as you are ordered (by Allah). Allah willing, you shall find me one of those who are steadfast' 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called out: "O Abraham, 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 For this was obviously a trial- 106 And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 This is how We reward the virtuous. 110 for he was truly one of our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Ishaq, a prophet among the good ones. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself. 113
