The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the setting star, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 While he was in the highest part of the horizon: 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart lies not of what he saw; 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And certainly he saw him in another descent, 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 Near it is the Paradise of Abode. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Why - for yourselves [you would choose only] male offspring, whereas to Him [you assign] female: 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But to Allah belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world). 25
