The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Not at all but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 On couches, gazing, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
Almighty Allah's Truth.
