The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
