Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 In eloquent Arabic. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will exclaim, "Could we have some respite?" 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So call not thou unto another god along with Allah, lest thou be of the doomed. 213 And warn thou thy clan, the nearest ones. 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
