۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 By the Lord, I will devise a plan against your deities after you have gone away and turned your backs!" 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 They said: 'Then bring him here so that the people may see, so that they may bear witness' 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, "Do you, instead of God, worship things that can neither harm nor benefit you?" 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We (Allah) said: "O fire! Be you coolness and safety for Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 69 They sought to outwit him, but We made them the worst of losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in superfluity, and every one made We righteous 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
