In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear patiently whatever they say, do not yield to them and keep on preaching decently to them. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The very heaven being then rent asunder. His promise is to be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
