The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then he thought; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
