Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 What you are threatened with is most surely true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 And it will be said to them, “Taste your own roasting; this is what you were impatient for.” 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure. 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
