The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
