And when We said to the angels: 'Prostrate yourselves before Adam' they all prostrated themselves except iblis, who refused. 116 So We said; "O Adam, he is truly your enemy and your wife's. Do not let him have you turned out of Paradise and come to grief. 117 "There is therein (enough provision) for thee not to go hungry nor to go naked, 118 And that you shall not be thirsty therein nor shall you feel the heat of the sun. 119 But the Shaitan made an evil suggestion to him; he said: O Adam! Shall I guide you to the tree of immortality and a kingdom which decays not? 120 Then they both ate of it, so their evil inclinations became manifest to them, and they both began to cover themselves with leaves of the garden, and Adam disobeyed his Lord, so his life became evil (to him). 121 Thereafter his Lord accepted him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 122 [Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]. 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." 124 He will say: My Lord! Wherefor hast Thou gathered me (hither) blind, when I was wont to see? 125 God will say, "Just as Our signs came to you and you ignored them, so will you on this Day be ignored." 126 Thus do We requite him who transgresses and does not believe in the signs of your Lord (during the life of the world); and surely the punishment of the Hereafter is even more terrible and more enduring. 127 Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence. 128
