S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Has the message been revealed to him out of [all of] us?" Rather, they are in doubt about My message. Rather, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, theirs? Then let them climb up the ladders (to the heavens). 10 This is only a small army out of the several armies that will suffer defeat here. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
