AND HAS the story of Abraham's honoured guests ever come within thy ken? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 Then We evacuated those of the Believers who were there, 35 We therefore found just one house over there that was Muslim. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 Then they disdained the command of their Lord; wherefore the bolt laid hold of them even while they looked on. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the people of Nuh We destroyed aforetime; verily they were a people transgressing. 46
