The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But (the Pharaoh) disavowed and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
