The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Mecca) 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 that We have created the human being to face a great deal of hardship. 4 Does man think that no one will ever have power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance." 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown him the two highways? 10 But he has not broken through the difficult pass. 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 or the feeding in times of famine 14 an orphaned relative 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who disbelieve in Our verses, they are the Companions of the Left, 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
