In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 who taught by the pen, 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
