When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
