And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 Does he promise you that when you die and have become dust and bones, that you will be brought forth again? 35 ۞ “How remote, (really) how remote is the promise you are given!” 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 And We sent forth Our apostles, one after another: [and] every time their apostle came to a community, they gave him the lie: and so We caused them to follow one another [into the grave,] and let them become [mere] tales: and so - away with the folk who would not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave the Book to Moses so that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
