Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And (the clouds) that bear heavy weight of water; 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
